Biographical Sketch:
Peggy
David is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been practicing in
CENTRA’s Marlton office since 2004.
Having moved from a successful private practice, Ms. David’s
work at CENTRA focuses primarily on issues confronted by adults,
individually and in relationships.
Peggy
David earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Ohio State
University. She began her
work in Southern New Jersey as the social worker for the hemodialysis
and renal transplant unit of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.
In this capacity she worked with patients and their families,
helping them in their struggle to cope with the emotional component of a
debilitating, often life threatening illness.
Subsequently,
she joined the professional clinical staff of Jewish Family and
Children’s Service of Southern New Jersey, where her work focus was
individual, couples and family therapy.
She became coordinator of the agency’s Jewish Family Life
Education Program. In this
position she made extensive use of her training and expertise working
with groups in order to plan and coordinate the agency’s extensive
program of support groups for children and adults.
Ms.
David became Clinical Director, overseeing the entire agency’s
counseling and support group personnel and services.
She served as assistant Director of the agency as a whole until
she entered private practice. Throughout her tenure at Jewish Family and Children’s
Service Ms David continued to use her clinical skills working with a
limited number of individual adults, couples and facilitating support
groups for interfaith couples. She
also served as primary therapist for the agency’s first mixed gender,
mixed diagnosis open-ended psycho-therapy group.
While
at Jewish Family and Children’s Service she also earned a reputation
as an outstanding speaker on a variety of social and emotional issues.
She also was a member of the graduate faculty of Temple
University and Rutgers University.
She was an adjunct instructor at Camden County College and Rowan
University.
Ms.
David’s professional expertise has led her to being asked to serve on
a National Task Force looking into issues related to adolescent
self-destructive behaviors. She
also serves on a National Committee on Family Concerns whose mission is
creating and developing volunteer programs to meet the needs of
individuals and families dealing with a variety of life-stressors.
The Courier- Post Newspaper also tapped her for their Ask
the Expert column.
Ms.
David has continued her professional training and development.
She recently completed a course of training in Cognitive
Behavioral Therapy.
