Michele Arthur, LCSW, MSW

  • Individual, Couples and Family Therapy
  • Anger Management
Clinical Associate

Michele Arthur is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been helping others make positive transitions since 1987, when she earned her Master’s in Social Work from Rutger’s University. After completing a three-year certification program in family therapy at the renowned Philadelphia Child Guidance Clinic in 1992, she entered private practice. Moving from a sole private practice, Ms. Arthur joined the Centra, P.C. group in 1999, where her skills complimented Centra’s interdisciplinary approach.

During her 4 ½ years working at Burlington County’s Drenk Mental Health Center Adolescent Treatment Center, Ms. Arthur’s position as the unit supervisor afforded her the opportunity to treat adolescents and their families and supervise staff, graduate students, coordinate multi-disciplinary team meetings, and act as a liaison for Family Court, local schools, and the Division of Youth and Family Services (DYFS). Ms. Arthur also expanded her capacity at Drenk, becoming a certified instructor in non-violent crisis intervention, training both Drenk employees and outside organizations in the key aspects of crisis methodology.

Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Arthur also served as an outpatient therapist for Family and Community Services (FACS) where her caseload included individuals, couples and families. She became Program Supervisor of FACS, then developed and implemented a workshop entitled “Preventing Sexual Harassment in the Workplace.” This program was utilized by many Burlington County Offices, local high school teaching and administrative staff, and private companies who sought to increase staff awareness and reduce legal exposure to the consequences of inconsistent or absent policy application.

Ms. Arthur extended her experience by offering and conducting a parenting workshop to help parents understand how to deal with young children and adolescents in a productive manner. “Parenting is a complicated and often difficult job, and though parents want to do their best, they sometimes need guidance and support.”

Arthur was tapped by the Courier Post, a local South Jersey newspaper, as a panelist for their “Ask the Experts” column and responded to questions phoned in by the public on such topics as “Building Family Togetherness”, and “Parenting a Teenager”, topics that “generated a lot of interest”, said Arthur.

Her concern for the welfare of children and families is also shown with her expertise in working with families affected by the consequences of domestic violence. She is credited with co-facilitating a couples group for non-violent couples for Providence House/Willingboro Shelter, a program of Catholic Charities, and also working with perpetrators of domestic violence. This led to an interest in working with those who have difficulty managing their anger and emotions, and for the last three years, Ms. Arthur has conducted adolescent groups at Millville Memorial High School on anger management. She is hoping to expand this expertise with coordinating similar groups at Centra, P.C. in the near future.
