Director of Training & Development

“At the point where you get past therapeutic models, techniques and interventions, I truly believe that the primary ingredient in effective therapy is reflected in the strength of the therapist-client relationship. Without a relationship based on respect, compassion and an honest attempt to understand the beliefs and experiences of one’s clients, the clinician’s technical proficiency will prove to be meaningless.”

Entering the profession in 1978 Bruce Buchanan is well known and respected in the field of Couples and Family Therapy. He spent 12 years at the Philadelphia Child Guidance    Center as a clinician, teacher, supervisor and administrator.    While there he served as Director of the Post-Graduate    Certificate Program in Family Therapy and Systems    Consultation as well as Associate Director of the Family    Therapy Training Center. He has conducted family therapy    workshops, nationally and internationally, on a wide variety    of topics.

Mr. Buchanan also spent three years as Assistant Director of Training at the Penn Council for Relationships (Formerly Marriage Council of Philadelphia) and directed the Families Agencies and Schools Together (FAST) Program.
